Creative Pedagogy
I'm interested in creative pedagogy for literary and cultural studies, creative practice, and for story-led communications, business and design.
I have extensive experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students in Delhi, Oxford, London, and Bangalore. Over the last ten years, I've taught students from India, UK, and the USA. I worked as a Tutor in English for 6 years at the University of Oxford, where I had both UK-based students as well as students in exchange programmes from various universities in the US, including Harvard, Stanford, University of Rochester, Pacific Lutheran University, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern University, Williams College, and Sara Lawrence College.
My teaching draws on my specialisms in modern and contemporary, postcolonial and world literary studies. As a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in English at Brunel University of London, I taught various courses in related areas to BA and MA students.
I have also acquired teaching certifications based on best practices in pedagogy in literary and cultural studies, including the NET UGC certificate, Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA, completed at the University of Oxford), Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, completed at Brunel University of London).
Some of my writing consciously builds on my pedagogy: I have written on teaching South Asian diasporic literature, and produced teaching resources in my areas of expertise, including the works of Monica Ali, Nadeem Aslam, Mary Jean Chan, Caleb Femi, Arundhati Roy and Moniza Alvi, for the MLA Options for Teaching series, English Review magazine, Postcolonial Writers Make Worlds, and Oxplore.
